Call for papers and posters - I Seminar and Public Debate on Emerging territories in the Eastern Region of Uruguay Design Federico Alonso

The First Seminar and Public Debate about the emerging territories in the Eastern Region of Uruguay, called “East wind” is going to take place from September 14th to 16th 2017, in Maldonado, Uruguay. The abstracts for paper and poster presentations can be submitted until August 10th.

- Authors’name
- Affiliation
- E-mail
- Type of contribution (paper or poster)
- Topic (of the above listed)
- Five key words
Summary (1000 words maximum, Font Arial 11)
On August 18th the organizers will communicate the results of the selection.

This initiative, in which everyone is welcomed to attend, aims to create an exchange and dissemination space for the academic research conducted in the last few years, specially by the University Centre of the Eastern Region of the Universidad de la República, at Rocha, Maldonado, Treinta y Tres, Lavalleja and Cerro Largo Departments. In addition, it seeks to create a public debate about the main territorial transformations, with the active participation of civil society, governments, private actors and citizens. 

The seminar will include round tables, presentations and interactive workshops, under five topics:

1. Territorial Planning and Governance in the Eastern Region

2. Value of natural and cultural resources

3. Territory and its sociodemographic dynamics

4. Impacts of the tourism sector on local development

5. Transformative economies and development models

Moreover, during the three days, there will be exhibits of posters and initiatives of alternative economies, as well as a film exhibition of the project SUSY/ Transformative economy: Challenges and limits of the Social and Solidarity Economy in 55 territories in the World.

East Wind - The First Seminar and Public Debate about the emerging territories in the Eastern Region of Uruguay is organized by Centro Universitario Regional del Este – CURE (Department on Territory; Internal Migration Study Group – DCSH; Touristic Area Studies) and SARAS Institute. With the support of Espacio Interdisciplinario de la Udelar (Interdisciplinary Events 2017) and the Servicio Central de Extensión y Actividades en el Medio de la Udelar (third call to public activities 2017).
